Descrição
Shrine folklore holds that the mere pluck of a bowstring can banish ghosts, and that yumi made from the tonewood of the catalpa tree are especially attractive to elemental spirits and repellent to malicious ones. The Kitsune Forest is rich with soft catalpa wood, which the Fox Clan uses for bow making (among other things). The Fox regularly trade catalpa yumi to the Phoenix Clan’s Kaito family, for whom the wood is relatively rare. However, the Fox are careful to utilize catalpa only from trees that have fallen naturally; they believe that hewing catalpa will “frighten” the wood, reversing the effect of the sacred tone.
