Lanterns of all shapes and sorts are common throughout the Empire, and the craft of lantern making is considered one of Rokugan’s greatest arts. The most typical personal lantern consists of a bamboo frame with paper stretched over the ribs to protect the candle within from the wind. Lanterns can be mounted on staves, carried by handles, hung from hooks, set to rest on stilts, or even designed to float on water. They can also be shaped like fantastic animals, painted, or formed from patterned paper. Metal or wooden lanterns are common as well, if a bit pricier. (Cost: 1 bu. Rarity: 2.)
