Descrição
Personal timepieces have become status symbols among the Rokugani elite, as traditional water clocks are larger, more common, and less expensive. The most prized timepieces are sand clocks, the best examples of which come from al-Zawira. They consist of two glass-bulb ampoules partially filled with powdered marble or ash, expertly measured so that it takes a certain amount of time for sand to pass from one bulb to the other. The glassblowing techniques required to make the sand clock are not exclusive to the artisans of the Caliphate, but access to better materials, the skill required to make smaller examples, and the artistic elegance typical of the devices have created a cottage industry in al-Zawira for sand clocks calibrated for the Rokugani hour. (Cost: 2 koku. Rarity: 6.)
