When a check appears in print, it often has a preset skill, ring, or TN, along with recommended modifiers that apply to certain situations. If it allows any ring, it will not list a ring; if it allows any skill within a group, it will list a group rather than a specific skill.
If a check in print allows multiple rings, it will sometimes be followed by parentheses containing ring names and values, such as “(Air 3, Water 1)”. These values are the TNs to use those rings.
