Making a Check
Texto
When a character attempts something at which they could fail, they make a check. The check is the core mechanic for L5R, and has two parts:
1. Assemble a number of and dice to form a dice pool, then roll these dice.
2. Select a number of dice equal to the character's ring value to keep, then resolve the positive and negative effects of the symbols on all kept dice.
A check always has one of two outcomes: the character succeeds or the character fails. Additionally, it can include secondary outcomes, such as opportunity (), which can be used to add extra narrative flourishes, and the accumulation of strife ().
