Terrain in the Shadowlands should always be off-putting, ranging from horrifically bleak and dark to disturbingly beautiful and enticing. Much of it should have the Dangerous, Entangling, and Obscuring qualities. Often it can be Imbalanced as well.
More terribly, all terrain in the Shadowlands has the Defiled quality. At the GM’s discretion, some areas can be especially corrupted and increase the TN of checks non-Tainted characters make to resist Defiled effects by 1.
