Many travelers learn the fine art of quickly acclimating themselves to a new place: speaking to the locals, trying regional cuisines, and observing the local customs and laws. By observing the inhabitants of a place of human habitation for a short time, a veteran traveler can take in the location’s feel so they can operate effectively there.

As a downtime activity in a place of habitation where you are unfamiliar with the laws and customs (of humans or another sentient species), you may make a TN 2 Culture (Earth) check to observe and determine the customs and protocols of this new place you have reached.

If you succeed, you quickly ascertain the laws and cultural norms of the place you are currently visiting. You are able to logically discern whether a particular proposed course of action is legal or illegal and whether it is rude or polite.

- : Through study and use of common roots in languages you do speak, you are able to make yourself understood in the common language of the place you are visiting. While you are not fluent in the language, you are intelligible.
